Jillian Hotchkiss is going into her third-year of law school, pursuing a J.D. from Pepperdine Caruso School of Law. Jillian has a passion for and a corresponding strong command of employment law, as demonstrated by her receipt of the CALI award for her Employment Law class taken in the 2024 Spring semester.
Jillian graduated summa cum laude from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in Sociology. While at the University of Alabama, Jillian got involved in several organizations with objectives that sought to help people. Jillian was a mentor and teaching assistant for incoming first-year students during her senior year to help them succeed in their first year of college. Additionally, she was involved in an organization where she acted as a liaison between the University and the community to help ensure the school could give back according to the community's needs.
In law school, during Jillian's 2L Fall semester, she worked with the Chair of the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, a government agency that advises the President on historic preservation issues. Jillian conducted legal research and analyzed state historic preservation statutes in her role.
During the summer between her 1L and 2L years, Jillian externed with Judge Kimberly Knill at the Orange County Superior Court.
In her senior year at the University of Alabama, Jillian interned with a criminal defense attorney which strengthened her desire to pursue law.
